ANALYSIS OF THE CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF HAWTHORN FRUITS AND THEIR QUALITY EVALUATI0N

  • This paper deals with a quantitative study on organic acids and flavonoids of eightspecies of Chinese Hawthorn fruits with HPLC, Four organic acids including tartaric acid , DL-malicacid, citric acid and succinic acid are determined with HPLC,flow phase : H3Po4 , pH=3, C18column)Three flavonoids(vitexin , rutin and hyperoside ) were also determined ( flow phase:H2O-iso-propyl alcohol-acetic acid = 80 : l7 : 3, C18 column).Total contents of organic acid andflavonoid were determined with photometer. The results indicate that the fruits of Crataegus pinnatifida,C. cuneata and C.pinnatifida var.major are good sources worthy for using in prevention and treatment ofeardiovascular illness, As a traditional Chinese drug,C.pinnatifda var.major is of the best quality andhas been very widely used。 The results of this study will be beneficial for the quality evaluation andresource utillzation of Chinese Hawthorn。
