THE STRUCTURES OF SAIKOSAPONIN M AND N FROM BUPLEURUM SMITHII WOLFF

From the roots of Bupleurum Smithii Wolff, collected in Minhe County,Qinghai,China,two new saikosaponins were isolated and their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectralanalysis of UV,IR,¹HNMR,¹³CNMR and FAB-MS.The two new saponins named as saikosaponinm and saikosaponin n,were identified as 3β,23,28-trihydroxyoleana-11,13(18)-dien-3-O-β-D-glu-copyranosyl-(1→3)-β-D-fucopyranoside and 3β,16β,23,28-tetrahydroxyoleana-11, 13(18)-dien-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→4)-β-D-glucopyranoside,respectively.
