STUDIES ON THE CONSTITUENTS OF GANODERMA CAPENS (PART Ⅰ)

  • During the past few years, several hospitals employed the mycelium of Ganoderma capens (Lloyd) Teng (Bao Gai Lingzhi) (Polyporaceae) obtained by submerged fermentation by our Institute for the treatment of progressive muscular dystrophy, atrophlic myotonia and certain other related dtseases whih encouraging results. Five compounds have been isolated from the water soluble portion of the mycelium. On the basis of spectroscopic analysis (MS, UV, IR, NMR), they were identified as adenine (Ⅰ), adenosine(Ⅱ), uracil (Ⅲ), uridine (Ⅳ), and D-mannitol(Ⅴ).Animal experiments demonstrated that uracil and uridine were capabie of lowering the elevated serum aldolase level of mice suffering from experimental myotonia.
