STUDIES ON THE CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF POPULUS TOMENTOSA CARR

Abstract

Populus tomentosa Carr. a Chinese folk medicine, has been used for treatment of arthritic disease. A new flavonoid, with molecular formula C₃₀H₂₆O₁₂ was isolated from this plant along with four known compounds. They were identified as apigenin-7-O-(6″-O-p-coumaroyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside (Ⅰ), salicin (Ⅱ), tremulodin (Ⅲ), tremulaein (Ⅳ) and daucosterol (Ⅴ) by the use of ¹HNMR, ¹³CNMR and ¹H-¹³C COSY spectroscopy.
