CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS FROM THE LEAVES OF KOELREUTERIA PANICHLATA LAXM

  • AIM: Isolation and structural elucidation of the constituents from leaves of the Chinese medicinal plant Koelreuteria paniculata Laxm. METHODS: The leaves were extracted with 95% EtOH percolation and the crude extracts were purified by using silica gel chromatography. IR, UV, MS, 1H and 13CNMR spectra were employed for structural identification. RESULTS: Three new compounds named ethyl-p-digallate (1), ethyl-m-digallate (2), p-digalloyl acid (3), together with eleven known compounds m-digalloyl acid (4), quercitrin-2″-gallate (5), galloyl acid (6), ethyl galloyl acid (7), ellagic acid (8), quercitrin (9), hyperin (10), kaempferol-3-O-rhamnoside (11), hyperin-2″-gallate (12),β-sitosterol (13) and β-sitosterol 3-O-glucoside (14) were isolated. CONCLUSION: Ethyl-p-digallate (1), ethyl-m-digallate (2) and p-digalloyl acid (3) were new compounds, and 4, 5, 8~12 and 14 were known compounds unreported previously from this plant.
