STUDIES ON CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF STEPHANIA LONGA L. (MENISPERMACEAE) (Ⅰ)

A new hasubanan type alkaloid, named Ionganine, C₁₉H₂₅NO₆, m. p. 197～199, α_D+101 (EtOH), has been isolated from the roots and stems of Stephania longa L. (Menispermaceae) growing wild in Hainan Island. Its structure was established as (Ⅱ) by chemical and spectral analysis. Besides, a known alkaloid stephaboline was also isolated from the same plant.
