SYNTHESIS OF SUBSTITUTED PHENYLMETHANE-α-AMINOSULPHONIC ACIDS
-
Abstract
A number of phenylmethane-α-amino-sulphonic acids carrying various substituents on the aromatic ring has been synthesized as potential amino acid antagonists. Substituted benzaldehydes were reacted with aqueous ammonium sulphite at room temperature, afford- ing the desired products. However, the products formed from salicyaldehyde and 2- hyd roxy -3-methoxy-benzaldehyde further reacted with the aldehydes, and the corresponding Schiff bases were isolated.
