STUDIES ON THE CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF THE ROOT OF DAMNACANTHUS SUBSPINOSUS HAND—MAZZ Ⅰ. THE ISOLATION AND STRUCTURAL DETERMINATION OF THE SUBSPINOSIN AND 8-HYDROXYSUBSPINOSIN

  • Three anthraquinones have been isolated from the root of Damnacanthus subspinosus Hand—Mazz(Rubiaceae). One of them was shown to be identical with rubiadin-1-methyl ether (Ⅰ); the other two are new compounds named subspinosin and 8-hydroxysubspinosin, their structures were found to be 3-ethoxymethyl-2-hydroxy-1-methoxyanthraquinone (Ⅱ) and 2,8-dihydroxy-3-ethoxymethyl-1-methoxyanthraquinone (Ⅲ) by spectroscopic analysis.
