THE METABOLISM OF INDICAN-C614 IN THE DOG
-
Abstract
An oral dose of 200 mg of indican-C614 (indoxyl-β-glucose-C614) was given to a dog. A 24 hour urine sample was collected and treated with Dalgies's deactive carbon method. Aliquots of urine were spotted on filter paper, and chromatographed. Radioactive meta- bolites were located by radioscanning and by radioautography. Two metabolites, urinary indican and indoxyl-d-glucuronic acid, were found on the chromatogram in addition to two strongly radioactive compounds which were identified as x- and y-hydroxy-indican- C614. Furthermore, a small amount of unchanged indican-C614 was also found.
