THE SYNTHESIS OF PHENHOMAZINE DERIVATIVES

Using Trger′s base (3) as starting material a series of phenhomazine derivatives have been synthesized (Table 1).Trger′s base may be transformed into the corresponding dinitrosodimethyl- or trimethylphenhomazine by nitrosation or methylation. The dinitrosophenhomazine is finally coverted into hydrazones (9～12)by reduction followed by condensation with appropriate aldehydes or ketones. Attempts to obtain amino-derivatives by direct condensation of 4 with Cl—(CH₂)_n—NR₂ failed. Compound 4 is allowed to react first with Cl—(CH₂)_n—C—Cl to yield chloroamido-derivatives (13, 14) which are then treated with different amines to give amido-derivatives (16～21). The aminoderivatives (22～26) may be prepared by reduction of the corresponding amidoprecursers.
