CHEMICAL STUDIES OF ANGELICA SINENSIS

From the water soluble fraction of Angelica sinensis (oliv.) Diels (dang～gui), five constituents were isolated by chromatography and identified as ferulic acid, succinic acid, nicotinic acid, uracil and adenine. From the petroleum ether extract of Dang-gui, two compounds were isolated by preparative gas chromatography and identified as butylidenephthalide and ligustilide.All these constituents were found to be present in the injection solutions prepared from dang-gui.Feluric acid, succinic acid, nicotinic acid, uracil, ligustilide and adenine were isolated from Angelica sinensis for the first time.
