SYNTHESIS OF N, N-DISUBSTITUTED β-HYDROXYTRYPTAMINES

In this paper, we report the synthesis of eight N, N-disubstituted β-hydroxytryptamines (Ⅳ), The substituted indoles were reacted with oxalyl chloride and then with the secondary amines to afford corresponding keto-amides (Ⅵ). The reduction of these keto-amides with LiAlH₄ in ether benzene at lower temperature (10-30℃) produced N, N-disubstituted β-hydroxytrptamines.N, N-disubstituted tryptamines were obtained if the reduction was carried out under reflux.
