CHEMICAL STUDIES ON OROXYLEUM INDICUM (L.)VENT.——Ⅰ.TWO NEW FLAVONE GLUCOSIDES OROXIN A AND OROXIN B
-
Abstract
The Chinese folk medicine, Mu-Hu-Die, being the seeds of Oroxyleum indicum (L.) Vent. (Bignoniaceae) has long been used as antiinflammatory and analgesic agent. From its ethanol extract five crystalline substances have been isolated. Among them two were identified to be benzoic acid and chrysin. The other two compounds are apparently new flavone glucosides and are named Oroxin A and Oroxin B. They have further been identified as baicalein-7-glucoside (Ⅱ) and baicalein-7-diglucoside (Ⅲ) respectively. The chemical studies on the fifth compound are in progress.
