STUDIES ON THE CONSTITUENTS OF THE NEUTRAL LIPOPHILIC FRACTION IN THE RHIZOME OF BELAMCANDA CHINENSIS (L.) DC.

Three compounds have been isolated for the first time from the neutral lipophilic fraction of the rhizome of Belamcanda chinensis(L.) DC. Compound Ⅰ was shown to be irisflorentin which had been found in Iris florentina L. as an inhibitor of cAMP-PDE. Ⅱ is a new compound derived from desoxybenzoin, It was identified by means of IR, MS, NMR, and partial-synthesis and was named"sheganone". Ⅲ was identified as apocynin which occurs as a glycoside in Iris tectorum Maxim. Ⅰ and Ⅱ react with alkaloid reagents showing false positive reactions.
