STUDIES ON THE CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF KNOXIA VALERIANOIDES THOREL EX PITARD
-
Abstract
From the root of Knoxia valerianoides Thorel ex Pitard (Rubiaceae) four anthraquinones were isolated one of them is a new compound with the formula, C16H12O6, for which the name Knoxiadin is proposed. By means of spectral methods, Knoxiadin is assigned to be 1,3,5-trihydroxy-2-methyl-6-methoxy-anthraquinone. The other three anthraquinones were identified as 3-hydroxymorindone, damnacanthal and rubiadin.
