SOME PHARMACOLOGIC ACTIONS OF THE DAHURISOLINE METHYL BROMIDE, A PRELIMINARY REPORT.

Abstract
A new alkaloid, dahurisoline, was isolated from Menispermun dahuricum. A 2% solution of its quatermary compound, dahurisoline methyl bromide (DMB), was used in this investigation. The LD50 of the compound given intravenously to mice was found to be 1.25±0.158 mg/Kg. In rabbits, the mean dose of respiratory paralysis was found to be 3.71 mg/Kg, and that of cardiac arrest 153.13 mg/Kg. The mean head drop dose for rabbit was 1.70±0.074 mg/Kg.Both neostigmine and calcium gluconate were shown to be antagnistic, whereas d-tubocurarine synergistic, to the actions of DMB. Chicks poisoned by DMB generally die flaccidly from respiratory paralysis.
