THE INFLUENCE OF TOTAL ALKALOID OF ACON1TUM KUSNEZOFFII REICHB AND ACONITINE ON CHANGES OF ECG INDUCED BY SEVERAL DRUGS
-
Abstract
The total alkaloid is extracted from the tuber of Aconitum kusnezoffii Reichb and it accounts for 0.9 per cent of the amount. It is found to consist of four kinds of alkaloid, among which is aconitine. Our experiment has shown that when given in small dosage, the total alkaloid of Aconitum kusnezoffii Reichb and Aconitine (E. Merck product) have the following similar pharmacological effects on the hearts of the experimental animals, as demonstrated by EGG. With the rabbits as the experimental animals, they both (1) enhance the effects of adrenaline, (2) antagonize the T inversion caused by calcium chloride, and (3) antagonize the initial elevation and the subsequent depression of the ST segment induced by the posterior pituitary preparations. With the guinea pigs as the experimental animals, both of them increase the toxic effects of strophanthin G on the heart. These results are preliminarily discussed.
