STUDIES OF LIGNANS FROM SCHISANDRA RUBRIFLORA RHED ET WILS

Ten crystalline compounds were isolated from the alcoholic extract of the kernels of Schisandra rubriflora Rhed et Wils. Eight of them were identified as dibenzocyclooctadiene lignans: wuweizisu C(1), (-)-rubschisandrin (2), rubschisantherin (3), deoxyschisandrin (4), schisanhenol acetate (5), schisanhenol B (6), schisanhenol (7) and gomisin O (8), while two of them were verified as 1,4-bis-phenyl, 2,3-dimethylbutane lignans: pregomisin (9) and meso-dihydroguaiaretic acid (10). Compounds (2), (3), (5), (6) have not been reported in the literature and their structures have been elucidated based on spectral and chemical analyses.
