STUDY ON SODIUM-NEPROXEN-LOADED CALCIUM PHOSPHATE CEMENT AS DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM
-
Abstract
AIM:To study a novel drug delivery system based on calcium phosphate cement (CPC) in vitro with sodium neproxen (SN) as a model drug. METHODS: After SN-loaded CPC was hardened, the properties of the material were evaluated by X-ray diffraction and setting time test. UV was used to measure in vitro drug release from CPC pellets into simulated body fluid at 37℃. RESULTS: SN did not affect the properties of CPC, and the drug release was found to agree with the Higuchi equation. CONCLUSION: The controlled delivery of drug could be attained by choosing the reasonable implanting operation and adjusting the parameters, such as the ratio of powder to liquid, the amount of drug and so on.
