STUDIES ON THE FLAVONOIDS PRESENT IN CHINESE DRUGS Part IV.Flavone-glucoside from Mi-Mong-Hua,Flowers of Buddlea officinalis Max

  • From the Chinese drug, Mi-mong-hua, flowers of Buddlea officinalis Max., there has been isolated a flavone glucoside which has the composi-tion C28H32O14, a melting point of 263℃ and a rotationaD15°—110.7 in pyridine. On acid hydrolysis, it gives rise to the formation of an aglycone, C6H12O5, m.p. 260℃, together with one molecule each of glucose and rhamnose. When hydrolyzed with alcoholic potash, the aglycone gives one molecule each of phloroglucinol and anisic acid. Judging from its composition, properties, degradation products, and absorption spectrum, the flavone glucoside isolated from the sample is most probably identical with linarin.
