REVERSED PHASE ION-PAIR HPLC DETERMINATION OF QUATERNARY AMMONIUM ALKALOIDS IN THE TRADITIONAL CHINESE DRUG HOU-PO(MAGNOLIA OFFICINALIS)

  • The reversed phase ion-pair HPLC method of determination of the three main quaternary ammonium alkaloids (magnocurarine, salicifoline and magnosprengerine)in Huo-po(Magnolia officinalis)has been developed, The Nucleosil C18 column and Na-octanesulfonate—CH3CN (74:26) at pH 3.45 as mobile phase were used. The effect of sorts of counter ions, composition of mobile phase and pH on the chromatographic process have been investigated. This method is s imple, rapid and has been widely applied to the analysis of various species and localities of raw material drugs.
