THE STRUCTURE OF A NEW ANTIBIOTIC 10676
-
Abstract
This paper reports the structural work on 10676, a new antibiotic (represented as v). Biogenetic considerations have led to the assignment of points of glycosidic attach-ment on ring Ⅱ as 4, 5 instead of the alternative 4, 6; and similarly in the case of ring Ⅲ, 1, 3 instead of 1, 5. The unique feature of this new antibiotic is the presence of xylose (ring Ⅲ) in place of the more commonly occurring ribose.
