ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF TRITERPENE SAPOGENINS FROM GLYCYRHIZA URALENSIS FISCH.

Seven triterpene sapogenins were isolated from the rhizomes of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch. Five of them were elucidated by spectroscopic and chemical methods as methyl glycyrrhetate(A), glabrolide(C), methyl 3β, 24-dihydroxyolean-11, 13(18)-diene-30-oate(D), methyl 24-hydroxyglycyrrhetate(F) and 24-hydroxyglabrolide(G). The last one is a new triterpene sapogenin. Studies of the chemical structure of the other two compounds (B, E) are in progress.
