Abstract
A crystalline compound isolated from the extract of the stem of Pashanhu, Parthenocissus tricuspidata (Sieb et Zucc), by column chromatography on silica gel was shown to be resveratrol(1). Another two crystalline compounds isolated from the fruit extract of Pashanhu after acid hydrolysis in MeOH or EtOH and chromatography on alumina have been identified as ethyl 1,2-dihydro-2-oxoquinoline-4-carboxylate (2a) and methyl 1,2-dihydro-2-oxoquinoline-4-carboxylate (2b) by spectroscopic analyses and their syntheses. All these compounds besides β-sitosterol were isolated for the first time from the stem and the fruit of this plant.
