SEPARATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF IMPURITIES IN CHINESE NORGESTREL

In this paper, the separation and identification of two impurities in Chinese norgestrel were reported. TLC and HPLC analysis indicated that Chinese norgestrel contains six impurities.On the basis of the UV, IR spectroscopy, EI mass spectrometry and comparison with reference substances, the two impurities were identified as (±)13β-ethylgon-4-ene-3,17-dione and (±)13β-ethyl-17β-hydroxy-gon-4-ene-3-one.
