GC/MS ANALYSIS OF THE ESSENTIAL OIL OF BACKEA FRUTRESCENS LINN.

Abstract
The chemical constituents of essential oil from the leaves of Backea frutescens Linn. were examined by means of GC/MS technique combined with preparative GC and IR. As a result of the analysis twelve constituents were identified artranscarveol, myrtenal, d-carvone, α-copaene, oceidentalol, guaiazulene, blemol, nerol, thymol, caryophyllene, calamenene, δ-cadinol, which were first found in this herb.
