EFFECT OF N-PHTHALYL-GLUTAMYL-SARCOLYSIN AND LYCORINE ON THE RESPIRATION AND GLYCOLYSIS OF THE EHRLICH ASCITES TUMOUR CELLS OF MOUSE

Abstract
A Warburg apparatus was used to study the effect of N-Phthalyl-glutamyl-sarcoly- sin and Lycorine on the respiration and aerobic and anaerobic glycolysis of the Ehrlich ascites tumour cells of mouse. The results indicated that N-Phthalyl-glutamyl-sarcolysin exhibited no effect on the respiration and aerobic and anaerobic glycolysis of the tumour cells. Lycorine was shown to possess an inhibitory action on the anaerobic glycolysis of the tumour cells in vivo, but without effect on the respiration and aerobic glycolysis. However, in in vitro experiments, Lycorine significantly inhibited the aerobic glycolysis with no significant effect on the respiration and anaerobic glycolysis of the tumour cells.
