Abstract

Abstract

Degradation of the side chain of β-sitosterol.(Ib) gave Δ⁴-androstene-3, 17-dione (II) and a small amount of Δ^1,4-androstdiene-3, 17-dione (Ⅲ) byMycobacterium vaccae 209-20. The yield of the product II was 32%.
