SYNTHESIS OF LUTEOLIN AND KAEMPFEROL

The synthesis of flavones luteolin and kaempferol is describid. In the preparation of the latter compound, the last two steps, Algar-Oyamada oxidation of Ⅶ and demethylation of Ⅸ have been improved. The overall yields of luteolin, and kaempferol, using phloro-glucinol as the starting material, are 3～5% and 10～17% respectively.
