STRUCTURE ELUCIDATION OF ANTIASTHMONE (1, 1'-BISISOMENTHONE)

Antiasthmone, a piperitone dimer, is a new effective antiasthmodic drug. Its structure was elucidated by spectrometric methods (UV, IR, NMR and MS). The structure of the compound melting at 166～168℃ is considered to be meso-1,1'- bisisomenthone. The compound melting at 137～139℃ is the racemic modification. The spectral interpretation was described.
