STUDIES ON THE CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF THE ROOT OF PIMPINELLA THELLUNGIANA WOLFF.

  • Three crystalline substances were isolated from the foot of Pimpinella thellungiana Wolff., of which two were identified as β-sitosterol and γ-sitosterol.Compound 111 was obtained as white granular crystals melting at 101~102.5℃ with the empirical formula C12H18O4. By meaans of UV, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and MS, its strudture was identfied as 3-methoxy-5-(1'-ethoxy-2'-hydroxypropyl)-phenol. It was found for the first time in the plant.
