PREDICTION OF OPTIMUM MOBILE PHASE COMPOSITION FOR THIN LAYER CHROMATOGRAPHY

  • Based on the relationships between the solute retention, spot width and the composition of multicomponent mobile phase in TLC, this paper developed a method for determining optimum mobile phase composition. By means of the retention data obtained in TLC using ternary mobile phase, a procedure for the optimization of the ternary mobile phase composition was developed. An example of the optimal process for the separation of the main components in Chinese patent medicine was demonstrated.
